Top 3 Myths about Getting Flat, Toned and Tight Abs Disputed by Morris County NJ In-Home Personal Trainer

Carey Yang, Certified Personal Trainer
Fitness Expert & Abs Specialist

The quest to getting a set of ripped 6 pack abs has been a world craze as far and as long as I can remember. The media is so obsessed about the flat stomach or ripped abs image. We're brain-washed that we gotta have to them be good, fit, and desired person.

Over the years, many "myths" or half-baked truths have been rumoring around. Most people are confused by different opinions from different experts. The lightening speed of internet and social media makes it even worse.

Each of the following myths have some merit. They become a myth when an unethical fitness professional or expert takes a narrow perspective in order to stir up controversy in an effort to get you to buy their hyped up fat loss program. It's time to cut through the chase and set the record straight.

Myth #1: Abs Are Made In The Kitchen

It's important to watch what you eat and how much you eat in the kitchen. You simply can't out-train a lousy diet to build muscles, lose fat and sculpt 6 pack abs.

However, I have been many scrawny men or skinny women dieting down to low percent of body fat and still don't have abs that pop out.

So if you want to develop eye catching abs that really stand out, you still need to train your abs and work them hard in addition to following an effective diet.

Myth #2: Crunches Are Bad For Your Back

Unfortunately most people do the crunches wrong and strain their necks and back. They conclude that crunches are useless and bad for their back.

Performed properly, crunches or curl-ups are effective exercise to directly work on your abdominal muscles. Abs - short for "rectus abdominis" - is designed to flex for spinal flexion movement.

Performing crunching movements with proper form is the best way to fully develop them. Floor crunches, stability ball crunches, cable crunches, and double crunch are all great exercises for developing your abs.

Myth #3: You Can't Train Your Lower Abs

Some fitness trainers argue that you can't work your lower abs, because the Rectus Abdominis is one long muscle.  It's only partially true. Just like any muscle-building exercise, you can put more emphasis on certain part of the muscle by performing the exercise in different angle and range of motion.

The key here is "emphasis" not to complete isolate lower abs. Hanging Knee Raises, Reverse Crunches, and the Jackknife among several other exercises place extra emphasis on the lower abdominal muscles. Basically any exercise where the movement involves tilting your pelvis up toward your chest, will place extra emphasis on the lower section of your abs.

The word "emphasis" is the key here. With each of the above abs exercises your entire Rectus Abdominis muscle will be working, but you should "feel" more tension and contraction in the lower abs compared to how they "feel" when you are performing other crunching movements.

If you want to sculpt a sexy set of six pack abs while developing a strong core  and look your best, you must follow a strategically designed workout program that includes functional exercises, crunching movements that emphasize the upper and mid section of the Rectus Abdominis, crunching movements that emphasize the lower section of the Rectus Abdominins, and exercises that work the Transverse Abdominals and Obliques.

In a final word, remember, your diet is equally important as your abs training routine. Check out Metabolic Masterpiece for Fat Loss Quckie.

Set up Your Fat Burning Kitchen to Get Your 6 Pack Abs

Do you know many "healthy" foods are actually making you fat, such as:

*Whole Wheat Breads & Crackers
*"All Natural" Peanut Butter
*Canola Oil
*ALL Soy products
*Salmon & Tilapia
*Most store-bought Nuts
*Protein Bars
*Low-fat "packaged" foods
*Low-carb "packaged" foods
*Anything made by "company X" sold in the freezer section

And a LOT more.

Many of you already know my good friend Mike "The Truth" Geary.

Well, Mike just turned 36, and to celebrate he's placed his ultimate "belly fat be gone" nutrition resource, The Fat Burning Kitchen, goes on sale.

==> Fat Burning Kitchen Birthday Sale

In it, Mike shares the shocking truth about the "healthy" foods in your home that are without a doubt KEEPING you fat, or at least substantially slowing your progress:

Stuff like:

*Whole Wheat Breads & Crackers
*"All Natural" Peanut Butter
*Canola Oil
*ALL Soy products
*Salmon & Tilapia
*Most store-bought Nuts
*Protein Bars
*Low-fat "packaged" foods
*Low-carb "packaged" foods
*Anything made by "company X" sold in the freezer section

And a LOT more.

He then goes on to teach you how to literally transform your diet from fat-storing to fat-burning in 24 hours by simply swapping out "bad" choices (that you've been deceived into believing are "healthy") for secret "ninja" foods with fat burning power that you didn't even know about.

Like:

*3 kinds of veggies that have been shown to directly combat abdominal/belly fat

*Chocolate (and how it can PREVENT "sweet" cravings)

*A certain type of saturated fat that actually lowers cholesterol and stimulates metabolism

*1 unique spice that controls insulin levels and leads to a leaner mid-section

*An "unusual" burger (yes, it's beef) that BURNS fat

And too many others to even list.

==> Fat Burning Kitchen Birthday Sale

Bottom line: In FBK, Mike teaches you ALL the foods that directly combat abdominal fat while ridding your kitchen of all the garbage "health" foods that are without a doubt sabotaging your fat loss efforts.

If you're serious about educating yourself and arming yourself with as much fat loss nutrition information as humanly possible, I'd definitely add Mike's program to your nutrition library before the sale ends.

You WILL learn plenty of new information (not a bunch of crap that you've already heard before).

Mike is including a bonus as part of the sale that details every single "nitty gritty" detail about how he managed to go from from 10.2% to 6.9% body
fat in just 23 days flat.

I'm talking meal composition, meal timing, macronutrient ratios, and everything else in between. This bonus is full of truly advanced information that is worth at least 5 times the amount of the entire package alone.

==> Everything for less than $20

This is the best 24-Hour Diet Transformation program to make your body a fat burning machine.

How to Shrink Your Rolling Muffin Top

Love handles are the common trouble spots and the most stubborn area for both men and women. They are often referred to as to abdominal fat, belly fat, muffin top, or beer gut.
Regional fat storage has a lot to do with diet, lifestyle and overall body fat level. Hormonal control of estrogen, insulin, and cortisol plays the most important roles. It will take at least a chapter if not a whole book to explain all these. Simply put, you have to find ways to reduce estrogen to normal level, become more insulin sensitive and reduce stress hormone cortisol.
With this in mind, the overall strategy in exercise and training to perform short, intense training sessions to counteract muscle-wasting and cortisol-generating effects. That means to avoid long duration cardio and extended weight lifting sessions.
While we can’t spot reduce fat storage, we can target-train certain muscle groups. Abdominal curls focuses on the front side your core, or the most coveted 6 packs abs. Lean and sculpted inner and exterior oblique muscles help you look ripped from the diagonal and side directions for a 3-D look. I would avoid doing too much side-bend exercise as many people do. It will thicken your lateral muscles and make you look “wider.”
There are some unique exercises you can do to target your abdominal and oblique muscles. If your fitness level is good, some of the most effective abs and oblique exercises are hanging leg raise and oblique twist, decline bench abs curl and twist, weighted cable crunches and oblique twist.
It usually works best doing 15 to 25 rep range and performing several different exercises back to back or in a circuit training fashion. If you’re starting out, try 6 to 12 repetitions for one exercise at a time. Make sure your form is correct and you should feel the muscle contraction or squeezing in each repetition instead of merely going through the movements.
You have to reduce overall body fat level by creating negative calories strategically to shrink your muffin top and get rid of love handles and belly fat. Managing the three key hormones is most critical by doing short yet intense strength training and cardio exercise to build the muscles and burn the fat.
There are many different training programs and routines depending on your level of fitness, conditioning and how much fat (or weight) you want to lose, your availability.
As a general guideline, one can achieve decent results by doing 3 strength training sessions a week for 45 minutes. Adding intense interval cardio training for 15 minutes at the end of each strength training sessions or 2 interval cardio sessions for 30 minutes on separate days would definitely accelerate fat loss.
Again, you have to evaluate how you feel, your progress and your time availability. Overtraining will create stress hormone cortisol causing more fat storage than fat burning. You’re more prone to fatigue and injuries.

Uncrunch Your Abs: How to Get Your 6 Pack Abs in 6 Minutes Without Doing Crunches

Do you have to do thousands of crunches or situps on the floor every day to get 6 pack abs?

When most people think about getting rid of bulging mid-section, the first thing they do is situps or crunches on the floor. To their disappointment, after thousands of crunches, their mid-section don't seem to deflate at all.

The truth about having flat stomach or well-developed abdominals "6 pack abs" remain in the kitchen. In other words, it involves proper nutrition, healthy habits and regular exercises consistently.

With busy modern lifestyle trying to fit everything into schedule, most people should take advantage of exercises that involves moving mulitple joints and muscle groups. They expend more calories to lose weight and work the whole body If you have extra time, you can certain do isolation exercise to work a specific muscle group.

In the last post, I introduce 3 quick exercises you can do at the kitchen sink while you're making coffee in the morning. You can get your 15-minute whole body workout while you're waiting for the coffee.

Now if you have extra time or finish the 3 exercises before the coffee is made, here are 3 more exercises that you can do to work your whole body including your core and abs.

At least You don't have to drop on the kitchen floor doing crunches.

Squat
Squat and Knee Strike
Do your squat. As you stand up from the bottom position, start to shift your weight to one foot and raise the knee of the other foot. When you stand up on one leg, chamber and strike with the other knee. As you exhale at this point, tighten your abs and obliques.

You can do all repetitions on one side and switch to the other. Or you can alternate side to side.
Squat and Front Kick
Similar to squat and knee strike, but this time as you're standing up on one leg, do front kick with the other leg. There are variations to front kick such as front snap kick where you target with your instep whereas front thrust kick makes contact with your heel.
Squat and Side Bend
Again, do your squats. As you stand up and shift your weight to one leg, bend the knee of the other leg and raise directly to the side. This will work on the sides or obliques.
While you may not relate these exercises to your abs, do them right with correct techniques and intensity, you'll feel the burn on your legs, buttocks, and abs.
